Menu Selector Hang

i installed cfe v2.2 (mp3 during gameplay) which did not work, so i installed the fatmsmod.prx patch which fixed the problem.
one of the two or both caused my furikup to crash at menu selector, after hitting X it just hangs and then the psp shuts down.
i am not sure which one that caused it because i never tried running it in between.
prior to this i was able to make calls with good enough quality, when the psp rang i would answer and it would connect but nothing
but noise could be heard on either end.
**UPDATE**
last night i noticed i was still on 3.90 m33 so i updated to 3.90 m33-2 hoping (yet doubting) that it would fix the problem which it didn't.
not sure if this is relevent but figured i'd try to be thorough.
**UPDATE**
i switched back to v.01 (without menu selector) and it at least works enough to make calls, but still no luck with incoming calls. it ring and establishes a connection but nothing can be heard. I am using this with Gizmo.
If any one knows how to utilize logging in this program let me know so I can be a better help to the developers
