Thank you for your response and patience. I really am a noob at this. However, I really want to get custom firmware on my PSP. Again, I'm running sony's 3.72 on a fat psp. The little white sticker on the bottom ends with "PSP 2001", if that's relevant.

It's my understanding now that the only way i can get custom firmware on this console is if I buy or borrow someone's pandora battery and magic memory stick since I can't make my own with my 3.72 version. Is this correct? If so, where are some recommended places to get these two component?

My neighbor has a fat psp. I don't know which version but i'm sure it's lower than mine and he's running sony firmware. Could I possible make the battery and magic memory stick if I borrowed his PSP?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

@ billybadbum

If your neighbour´s PSP is on any CFW or 1.50 you could use his PSP to convert your Memory Stick and Battery.

@Billbadbum

Note 2001 is a Slim PSP, not fat.

@Billbadbum

I would recommend either shipping your psp to some of the people that install custom firmware on this forum or if your friend is nice nice enough to let you borrow his psp battery send that along with a MS Pro Duo and have those converted into a pandora battery and magic stick. If you're scared of sending your expensive PSP via mail. In any case once you and your buddy use it you can revert the pandora battery back to a normal one, or just buy him a new one and keep the pandora for yourself.

I would steer away from trying to buy a Pandora and MS stick online as they carry copyright firmware from Sony and it's illegal to sell and purchase. Even if you're thinking of purchasing Datel's Tool Battery it does not with the software necessary to mod your PSP, once again needing a PSP with CFW to create the MS.

Here's a list of people that might be able to help you, also look in the post of this forum.

Are you sure you followed the directions exactly? Because, I had the same problem the first time I did it and I had accidently skipped a step. Thats my best advice.
