Just need help with one thing please

What's up,
I just bought a PSP slim, and all I really want to know how to do is play games from a memory card. I have firmware version 3.73 and I got it before I started searching around on how to do what I am looking to do. I hear that you have to downgrade the firmware and do something to the battery. I am pretty computer literate, but as far as the terminolagy for all this gamer stuff I'm clueless. Is there anyway for me to play games that I download, or wherever I decide to get them from, from my memory card. I already have my games I want to put on there, and I am not talking about like nintendo roms and crap like that, I'm talking rainbow six and new games I got. Has anyone got a guide for a newbie like me on how to freakin do this. I swear everywhere I look it's something either too simple and not the subject topic I'm looking for, or it's way too complicated and me not knowing the terminolagy, I have no idea what's going on. So has anyone got a pdf file or a link for me that might get me going?
