piKey on 3.90 M33-3
«

Alright, so I bought myself a Targus Universal Wireless Keyboard a little while ago, and it works perfectly with AFKIM and PSPWrite, but they're special cases, as they have the IR Drivers already in them, rather than using an outside method. (piKey)
I tried over and over again installing piKey 0.4 on my PSP with absolutely nothing, not even getting the "piKey is now ACTIVE" message.
I tried installing that, and the IRDA Patch, but still nothing.
So, I tried piKey 0.3, and it works like a charm in the XMB, OSK and Web browser. The only problem is when typing, I need to press select a few times to go to the right key set, but this is a known problem.
My only thing is, I can use it in GAME150 (Which apparently needed flashing to flash0, yet it works fine) with things such as DGen 1.70 and Cave Story, they're just difficult to play as my key mapping is set up for use mainly in the XMB and Web browser.
I wanted to try it in a game, ISO or UMD, doesn't matter, but it just doesn't want to work.
I boot up a game and get the "piKey is now ACTIVE" message, but no keys work. I've read that piKey won't work in games on a firmware higher than 3.40 OE-A, but seeing as GAME150 has worked when it wasn't meant to (apparently), I was wondering if there was a fix.
I'll keep working on this, and see if I can work out a way round it, but for now, I'm gonna try asking you guys here.

Goodness!
This is the 3rd time this has happened. There MUST be a bug somewhere in Unofficial piKey 0.4.
I wonder why the bug wasn't seen earlier... new motherboard versions?
I'm very busy this week, however I will work on the issue.
So I get a brief idea what to work on try my suggestion on the other post I made.
http://forums.noobz.eu/ge...th-pikey/msg8288/#msg8288
It'll help me locate the issue and fix it... It all works fine on my PSP.

I'm not sure what the problem could be, I don't know why it won't work in actual game's though, it works fine in the XMB, OSK and GAME150, but not UMD/ISO. I'd like to try and get it to work, so that it may be a remedy for everyone, and therefore could get all the working files together and release a 'working' version for 3.90 M33-3.
Do you have any idea as to why it won't work in games but in everything else? piKey will show the "piKey is now ACTIVE" message when I boot up a UMD or ISO, yet the keyboard doesn't do anything. It seems as though when in a game, the PSP doesn't let the IR Port activate or something, because even pressing the button to bring up the help screen does nothing.
Could there be a way to force the PSP to accept IR communications when in a game?
Also, I added you on MSN Angelo (

I must
STRESS
that piKey is not related to ZX-81's aplications such as PSPWrite.
PSPWrite is completly seperate to piKey.

I know, I clearly stated in my first post that they are special conditions, and that the IR Drivers are inside the application.
I'm just trying to get it to work in games.

Ah! Then install the IRDA expansion pack.
That'll clean it up!

Ergh... Had you even read my first post properly? >_>
"I tried installing that, and the IRDA Patch, but still nothing."
I've already tried it, and it didn't work. So I have no idea what to do now...

IRDA Patcher wasn't mentioned in your first post.
Wow... that's very odd.
IRDA loads automaticly in VSH and Game150, but it needs to be called in Game3.XX. The IRDA patcher loads IRDA when in Game3.XX mode.
Please post me the contents of your Game.txt file. It'll be found in:
ms0:/SEPlugins/
Inside you should find something like
flash0:/kd/irda.prx
It should also be enabled in the recovery menu.
I cannot be that you're missing an IRDA driver as piKey works in the XMB.
I suggest you take a look at your plugin menu.
That should clear it up!

My post did have mention of the IRDA Patcher, hence the reason why I quoted it. It's the third line of my first post, and there's no "Edited by Omega-Weapon" under it. Please don't accuse me of lying. (Just edited this post, and it does leave a message saying edited. So there's no chance of me adding that line in the first post now is there?)
After I used the IRDA Patcher, it had added the line Flash0:/kd/IRDA.prx, but made no difference, so, as I said in my first post:
"I tried installing that, and the IRDA Patch, but still nothing."
Even with the line to the IRDA prx in game.txt, nothing happened still.
Getting it work in games isn't exactly life threatening, and it's certainly not going to stop me using the keyboard, I just want to try and find out why it isn't working.

Sorry! I must be going blind!
Well at least you HAVE the file!
Did you enable it in the recovery menu?
That
may
be the cause of the problem.
Also what game are you using to test it on?
Some games take up so much RAM that they don't leave enough for piKey. Maybe try another game.

I've tried it with multiple games, UMD and ISO's.
I've tried Power Stone Collection, Monster Hunter Freedom 2, FF7: Crisis Core and DJ Max Portable 2.

Ok! I finally fixed it!
I got it to work, but I'm pretty sure Crisis Core doesn't work with it.
I'm gonna keep testing other games now, and hope that I haven't just fluked and only made DJ Max Portable 2 work.
I'll report back here in a minute once I've tested a few more games.

Ok, so I got piKey to work in Game's
What I needed to do was download RS PSAR Dumper, and decrypt and dump all of 3.90's files, I then got irda.pr× from the F0/kd folder and put it into my seplugins folder on my memory stick.
I now have this in my game.t×t folder:
ms0:/seplugins/pikey.pr×
ms0:/seplugins/irda.pr×
After doing this, the games I tested all worked (albeit the annoying keymapping to play the games) apart from FF7: Crisis Core.
This may help people, and help fi× the ne×t release.

Thanks for the tip.
I'll fix that up when I get time. I have exams this month!
Thanks!
