In future, disable piKey when starting up IR apps as they can conflict

im also having some problems with afkim. (running 3.80 m33-5 with targus universal keyboard pa870U v.3) Everything works fine in the XMB and PSPWRITE but i've been trying to get it to work with AFKIM. I've tried disabling pikey enabling pikey. dragging afkim to game folder. looked at the afkim config files which seemed to look ok (its preset for the targus right?) . Should I have the 1.50 kernel activated or 3.80? Also when I have both the GAME and GAME150 pikey.PRX's activated nothing seems to work. What does it mean to run pikey from the memory stick?

IR apps such as PSPWrite and AFKIM are not related to piKey at all. They can pick up IR signals on their own. It's best to have piKey disabled in GAME mode and for all your IR apps to be in the Game folder, not Game150. For me, it's the best configuration. Like piKey and PSPWrite, AFKIM needs configuring in the PSPIRKeyB.ini folder so it will work. Sorry I can't be much help as I've never used AFKIM. Go! Messengaer is better!

haha wish we had Go! Messenger here in the U.S. Thanks for the info I've been at this for days does anyone happen to know what needs to be changed in the pspirkeyb.ini? do i have to in put a number somewhere?I know i must sound so noob right now -_- from looking at it i think its preset for targus here is what mine looks like. I tried exchanging the # for 15 where it says "change this to your needs" I think this is where im lost. I've tried disabling pikey and putting the programs in my GAME FOLDER but still no luck =( I've also tried in both kernel modes.
# # pspirtty keyboard driver #
[KEYBOARD] mapfile_dir = './keymap'; # change this to your needs map = 'targus.ini'; # change this to your needs keyboard = 15 ;
########################### #possible "keyboard" values are ########################### # # 0 - NO keyboard # # 1 - Compaq/HP foldable keyboard # 2 - Snap'n'Type # 5 - HP Slim keyboard # 8 - Belkin IR (not IrDA) # 9 - Flexis FX-100 keyboard # 10 - Benq G250 gamepad # 12 - Micro Innovations Foldaway keyboard # 13 - Micro Innovations Datapad # 14 - Compaq MicroKeyboard # 15 - Targus Universal Wireless keyboard # 18 - Freedom keyboard # 19 - NOVAETS - KIS2 - IR Keyboard # 20 - Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard # 21 - Hama Palm IR keyboard
EDIT: I think i may have found out what the problem was by looking at PSPWRITE'S pspirkeyb.ini i put the number in the wrong area -_- ill go see if the problem is solved!

If you have Unofficial piKey 0.4 installed and working with your Targus and the "Targus Expansion Pack" then I suggest you use this as your PSPIRKeyB.ini file: # PSPIRKeyB.ini File # # This file is to choose your keyboard make/type and it's correct keymap. # This file ensures that your PSP responds well to your IR keyboard. # # [Keyboard] # # # IR Keyboard Type: # Keyboard = 15; # # Existing IR keyboard values are: # # 0 - No IR Keyboard # 1 - Compaq / HP Foldable IR Keyboard # 2 - Snap'n'Type IR Keyboard # 5 - HP Slim IR Keyboard # 8 - Belkin IR Keyboard (not IrDA) # 9 - Flexis FX-100 IR Keyboardeyboard # 10 - Benq G250 IR Gamepad # 12 - Micro Innovations Foldaway IR Keyboard # 13 - Micro Innovations IR Datapad # 14 - Compaq IR Micro Keyboard # 15 - Targus Universal IR Wireless Keyboard # 18 - Freedom IR Keyboard # 19 - NOVAETS - KIS2 - IR Keyboard # 20 - Palm Universal Wireless IR Keyboard # 21 - Hama Palm IR Keyboard # 22 - Sprint PDA Keyboard # # # This is the directory that the keymaps. It's best not to edit this unless # you fully understand what you are doing. # MapFile_Dir = 'ms0:/SEPlugins/piKey/Keymap'; # # This is the keymap that will be loaded. Make sure you add the .ini extension. # Map = 'Targus.ini'; Hopefully that'll fix it! I also suggest you put ZX-81's app in the 3.XX kernel. Let me know if it works or not! EDIT: If you're in 3.80 M33 or higher and you're running an IR application in the 3.XX kernel, for some reason it won't work. 3.80+ kernel has an issue with IR. Looks like I need to drop an email to ZX-81 and AhMan. Angelo

Okay, So I copied and paste the code to my pspirkeyb.ini(not sure if thats what i was suppose to do) and saved it, and tried to load afkim on my psp and I still could not get the targus keyboard to work, but it still worked just fine in the XMB. I am using the Targus expansion pack, I like the confirm button I can still use the universal remote homebrew and pspwrite w/ keyboard though they both freeze occasionally. Additional INFO: I used the pspIRkeyB.INI you provided for PSPWRITE and it worked but I can only get the homebrew to work under the 1.50 kernel i can't get it to work in the 3.80 kernel or the GAME380 folder, it had to be in the GAME folder. Applied the pspirkeyb.ini to portable vnc and still no go. MORE ADDITIONAL INFO: GOT AFKIM 3.2 for fw 1.5 to Work in 3.80m33 in 1.50 kernel mode with your pspirkeyb.ini! and game150 mode activated. with danzeff activated! PortableVNC 1.2.6 for fw 1.5 also works in the same manner but actually you don't need game 150mode on this one

Looks like there's an issue with 3.80+ kernal and IR. Better roundup ZX-81.

Morning! I'm making a tutorial on how to redirect ZX-81's applications to the keymaps used in piKey. That way, when we update, so will PSPWrite. However, if we add a new driver, that won't be updated. That's ZX-81's job!

Sounds good! Okay so pspwrite works only if I enable 1.50kernel disable GAME and GAME150 mode, but when i do this AFKIM keyboard doesnt work. If I enable GAME150 mode PSPWRITE freezes when loading, but AFKIM works fine, portable vnc on the other hand works faster but freezes after inputting a password for the host therefore, must disable GAME150 for portable vnc. This is my conclusion i can get all homebrew to work with IR keyboard just with older versions of homwbrew and at different settings >.< but hey atleast it works! IR KEYBOARD FOR LIFE! Actually i'm using the most recent PSPWRITE 1.0.4 for 3.xx(GAME FOLDER) everything else is for 1.5 fw(GAME150 FOLDER).

Yeah... I need to talk to ZX-81 about his applications and piKey's confliction. Hopefully he'll add a line to disable the plugin on boot!

As for IR not working in 3.XX, the problem may be bigger than what we expect. We need to talk to DarK_AleX. *Thunder crash and scary music comes in.*
