I have a pandora's battery and memory stick, so if i brick i can just reset.

This morning i successfully got 3.52 M33 running on my psp, and so i could update to 4.01, i first needed to update to 3.52 M33-4. I downloaded it from dark-alex.org, and i put it in the appropriate folders. It showed up in the Game>>Memory stick, but when i run it, the psp loading screen appears (like when starting a game), then just goes blank. After a few seconds it switches off. Turning back on again does the same thing, but after several (on the 7th)r e-turn ons, it loads the XMB but no update has occured. I would really like to update, so please help! If i need to, i can video it with my phone and upload it.

Thanks alot in advance,
Nappymonster

Update: I've run the update several times, and the same thing is happening, although it took less turn ons (5?) to work again.
Update 2: Took an insane number of turn-ons to work this time. Over 15. Eventually booted into recovery menu and clicked exit, worked
Update 3: I found it know will turn on first time, though still no luck updating Sad

Since you have Pandora's Battery and Magic Memory Stick it would just be easier to get to the 3.90 m33 by using this guide. Its straight to it, so you don't have to keep flashing new firmwares.

Also, if you want 3.71 firmware Hellcat came out with a recovery flasher so you can go back to it (after going to firmware 4.01)

I did some research using (Everyone's Best Friend)
and found out its one of two problems.
1. You're not formatting your memory stick/or not formatting it through the PSP.
2. You have fake memory stick.

(Before Doing Solution #1, Make sure you back up your memory stick. Connect it to usb and Just copy and paste all the folders in the root of your memory stick.)
Solution to #1: Turn on your PSP-> Go to System Settings -> Click Format Memory Stick -> Then Accept.
Solution to #2: I found a guide for fake memory sticks for this situation. I would suggest trying this after you try Solution #1. I'm also not sure how it works, so if you get stuck, you'll probably have to move on to another way.

It could be an incorrect kernel!

Put it in the Game352 folder. If you can't find it, just make one. It shoul be in:

ms0:\PSP\Game352\
