I dont have Homebrew yet...
And the truth is... There is only one reason I want it... the original...
Final Fantasy VII
... yeah ... i know, but i would Really, REALLY Love to get it on PSP
I own the PS1 game and am obviously interested in the ROM/ISO - whatever;
so, i dont wanna upset anyone by asking, but my question is...
is it any good?
does it work well on the emulator? are there any glitches? frame rate problems?
Should I just wait until SONY sell it on the online store via PS3?
thanks guys

Most likely. The PS1 to PSP capaterbility is aroound 9/10. Pretty good! Although you require to right tools to convert a PS1 CD to a file the PSP can understand. I was also told by a person who works in "Game" that it's LEGAL to download PS1 games. However distribution is 100% ILEGAL. Have NO idea how that works?

Since we're on the subject of "...reason for homebrew..." my one was ALSO PS1 games. I couldn't wait to play Crash Bandicoot and Tekken. My other main reason is the amount of usefull stuff out there. The PSP homebrew community has SO MUCH STUFF up for downloads for free! It's great when people look at you in envy whilst you use ZX 81's "PSP Write" or "piKey" with an IR keyboard or manage to change the TV channel when no one is watching or even play great classics such as "Space Invaders" and "Tetris". Emulators are cool too. Especially the GBA ones that run at full speed!

At school, I'm the "PSP Guy." Everyone wants their PSP downgraded, only a handful want it downgraded for good reasons... the rest... well... Undecided... sad isnt it?

It´l legal to download PS1 Games from the Official Sony Store (hence paying for the game download).

It´s ilegal download any ROMs/ISO files for any platform unless permitted legally by the copyrights owner (Sony Store [for PSP] or Nintendo Store [for Wii] form instance). Some people tend to think that it is allowed for games are that old so they do not make profits anymore for their legal copyright owners (this could be the case of Spectrum, Amstrad, Atari 8bits, Nintendo NES??, etc) but I couldn´t confirm that (By the way, then these games are called to be AbandonWare).

It´s ilegal the distribution of any ROM/ISO file for any platform unless they fit any of the descriptions above.

Hmm interesting... the guy's been fired by the way!

O.K I take that back. Only download PS1 games from the PSN store. (That's if you can afford a PS3!)

I don't see why Sony hasn’t given us the option to convert our own games!

Please say if I am out of line here Wakaru and please don't take this the wrong way but why did you lock the forum about the PS1 compression? I know you felt that the intentions were right but I didn't see the point in locking it. Yes the rules of the forum state "NO ISO discussion", but I think Fanjita specifically means illegal ISO discussion. An ISO could be an image of a music disk waiting to be burned using Nero? That's not illegal.

I am defiantly not a supporter of piracy, nor will I ever be, but maybe the term "ISO" in a different context shouldn't be an automatic lock on the forums.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. the last thing I want is people getting the wrong idea.

yes, there is an alternative. but i dont realy belive you will love it ^^
it is a TExt browser named links2.
RAF ported it originaly to allow the controll of a webserver while in his Web radio Homebrew (PSP radio).
Here is the link.
http://sourceforge.net/pr...=166538&package_id=191284
you will want to have the stand alone version.
This was developed when 1.50 was THE homebrew firmware and the only chance to get a webbrowser was throu games
or later by emulatieng 2.50 via DevHook
So dont expect much more than a very functional text browser Wink

I locked that topic for the reason explained in it. No ISO talking in the forums.

In this current topic different views are being given about why/when ISOs/ROMs generally speaking are or not legal, discussion which in my opinion does not pose a thread to the anti-piracy principles of the Noobz Forums. As soon as the conversation is deviated to PSP-ISO related talking, the topic will be unequivocally locked.

I hope this clarifies the matter.

I am sorry to appear as a dictator, but I do as I think it´s in the best interest of the forums.

Hey, I don't take any offense to it. At the time I posted that I didn't know there was a policy against ISO talking (lol... I don't read rules that much...heh). But yea. It's fine. It's a rule and I am going to respect it.

Grin By the way to the question to your question is use "PSX2PSP"

http://dl.qj.net/PSX2PSP-...pg/12/fid/12982/catid/151

It's probably one of the best tools to convert PS1 games with!

Hope this helps!
