I've come across my first problem. I think I've modded a combination of over 20 PSP's thus far both phat and slim and had no probelms. But this one is kind of weird. I modded a phat PSP for a friend of mine at work. Used the DC3 of my memstick and of course pandora as before it worked fine. But he said it browsed the net kinda slow and that he wanted to revert to OFW to upgrade to the newer version I told him he could upgrade his CFW just as OFW and to try it out. He came back and said that it downloaded the update but would not update. It gave this error message. "The system configuration of this PSP system does not appear to be correct. The update cannot be completed. Contact technical support for assistance. (DRNFFFFFFCD)" You back out and the PSP resets. I took the PSP back and installed OFW from the memstick and still got the same message. Used UPMS to downgrade to 1.50OFW then updated that way still the same (I might've not done that right) Other than that it works as it should. I offered him one of my spare PSP's that are modded and work fine but he wants his because it was a gift from his GF. Oh one thing I failed to mention. He had a problem with his PSP before the Mod and under warranty. I has a sticker that says "Factory refurbished HHCPC" Any insight will be appreciated and as always thank you guys.

Oh dear WickedMV what have you done!  Shocked

Nah I know what's going down...

Sony were loosing money. Dark_AleX, Noobz and the developers who made flashers were the cause. Allow me to explain.

Back in the days of 2.00 - 2.80 and SE CFW - OE CFW PSP bricks were common. Sony were being returned many bricked PSPs a day. Eventually, they stopped swaping old with new PSPs and began swapping old wih old.

They were taking in old PSPs either off the production line or by people, fixing them up and re-distribue them.

Since Pandora and M33 hit the scene, bricks are fixable. Nobody returns PSP's to Sony unless it's hardware issues.

That means that refurbished PSP's have a higher chance of still being faulty as the problem lies in the hardware.

The answer to your question is that the PSP didn't brick due to Pandora. It's been broken the whole time!

This is what you do:

-  Install the latest OFW.
-  Ring up Sony.
-  With a little bit of fire, the people at the other end of the Sony support helpline will crack and you can request for a brand new one.

Word of warning, if you want a PSP fat, you can only get it in pink. (Kloplop321's and WaKaRu's colour).
You're most likely of getting a Slim. Only disadvantages are:

-  No 1.50 kernel. (Nowadays this doesn't matter!)
-  No IRDA. (Unless you're me, this is a disadvantage!)

I hope that was detailed enough for you!

Nothing wrong with the pink color....

There´s always faceplates anyways %)

@ Angelo

But the PSP wasn't bricked. Is there a way for me to fix this or do I have to go thru Sony...The PSP works fine. It just does not update. I don't think it's a hardware problem. But then I also don't know what's going on lol. Thank you Angelo.

It's prolly hardware still.

The fact that it was a refurb says it all...

Nothing you can do really. It has to be taken about either way.

Yeah! And a true man has a cute teddy as a display picture!

I guess i'll just give him one of mine. I got 2 to spare. I don't think he still has warranty. I'll mod and sell his. buy another one from gamestop. No biggie. I got another friend that wants a modded one so I'll sell it cheap. Hope he's not ****ed about it.

@ Angelo

Now Angelo that would be wrong! *wink wink*

Well he didn't want any of my spares instead I gave him my Socom 2 UMD. Which sucks because now my collection is broken. I'll just get a used game from Ebay. Which brings me to my  next question...I want to upgrade my 1GB MS for like a 4GB or 8GB I want more room for homebrew, music and pictures of my GF she wants all of them in there. Don't ask me why? I read that MS purchased on Ebay can be fake and that there is a way to check that by looking at the info and seeing if it's supported or not. Now I remember either here or somewhere else that Dark Alex came out with a add-on so the PSP can read the new 8GB memory cards that's why I'm kind of doubtful as to what I should get. Also heard that a new 16GB is coming out. Ok last question I got the GPS Homebrew to work. I went and ordered the receiver. But I have no idea how to make the maps can anyone help. I would like to also install pikey and Furikup so help would be cool. And any other homebrew I can stuff on those Memory Sticks. Thanks guys. I have the files downloaded and they're just sitting there. I really want to know what other Homebrew there is I like the GPS, Phone, Pikey (although idk what i'll use it for) IR shell the pixel fixer all that stuff I got even thou I don't use it all it makes my PSP look cool lol.

Yes. Don't get them on eBay! Seriously. The ones that you DO get on eBay are the ones that are the same prices as the ones in the stores. £40 - £45 is a good bet. (I'll let you do the conversion!)

Ah... you're getting confused my friend. The PSP will not read a 4GB+ memory card if the CFW is REALLY old. You have nothing to worry about. However, there is a patcher DAX made that fixes slow memory card issues in 3.80+. I recommend you install it. Wink

Ok last question

Haha! You’re like me. Homebrew for the sake of it! As for Furikup (Sorry Noobz)… I don’t really rate it much. It has no graphic interface and can be quite buggy at times and hard to use. I recommend you use Go! Messenger and get yourself a Go! Cam. I talk to Kloplop321 on it all the time and it’s clear too!

As for piKey, I can give you a hand on installing! It’s really usefull.

Examples:

-  Browsing the web whilst listening to the PSP radio.
-  Writing notes in class.
-  Makes the PSP internet a better experience.
-  Show off to your friends!
-  Instant messaging.

I hope that answers all your questions buddy!
