Hey all,

First off I have a PSP-1001, a 1GB SanDisk MagicGate Memory Stick PRO Duo, and my battery is a 3.6v 1800mAh.  I'm running OFW v1.50, and I have reformatted the memory stick as well as restoring default settings to the PSP.

I'm trying to run the 3.52 M33 patcher found here: http://rapidshare.com/fil...15579776..._Installer.rar

Downloaded, extracted, but when I run the install I get a "write error."

I've also tried the patcher found here: http://www.calo-hacks.com

Although this time, the patcher "finishes successfully," the only files it puts on my memory stick show up as being corrupted when viewing them from the PSP at GAMES->Memory Stick.

Does anyone know what is going on here?  Thanks a lot in advance for any help you can provide,

At this point I think it must be my PSP? Has nobody else ever received errors of this nature?

On the surface it would seem like the memory stick is the issue, but since I've tried 3 different sticks with the exact same results, I'm not so sure. I have also just come upstairs and tried with my desktop PC (Vista x64) instead of the laptop I was on earlier (XP x32). Although the exact text of my errors are different, the result is the same. The memory stick in USB mode appears to be unable to properly recognize any files. SOMEHOW I did get kxploit on there and it is definitely installed, since when I try to run it again it says the patch is not relevant to my firmware, or something like that.

Anyway...do I need to just try a different PSP? It sucks because this one, unbelievably, I found used with v1.5 OFW already on it. Now I'll have to go buy a Pandora's battery, or GTA:LCS/Lumines...

I just had a thought...could it be that my memory stick is write protected? Would anyone know if this is the case/how to remove write protection?

I've found some solutions via Google, but I'm at work currently so I'm unable to verify if they fix my problem. In the meantime, still looking for more (any)  feedback! Thanks. Smiley

Could it even be that my memory stick is fake?  I bought it from Gamestop, but maybe it could be possible that they were duped somehow as well?  I DID buy it used, but then again I bought and tried THREE different sticks (8GB, 4GB, then 1GB thinking that my PSP just wasn't compatible with the larger sticks) and all had the same exact errors.  Would be surprised if I just so happened to buy three used fake memory sticks in a row...

Maybe the memory stick has bad sectors (doubt this too though since I've tried multiple sticks)?

Maybe the USB cable I'm using is bad!? It came in a PSP accessory pack, it's one with the battery charger plug on it as well.

Just throwing this stuff out there as I think it, waiting for some replies. Guess I'll just have to do a bunch of trial-and-error testing when I get home...Sorry for all these shameless bumps guys.

Try using a Memory Stick Reader (or a compatible Sony Digital camera, or a compatible Sony Mobile Phone) instead of the PSP.

If the same thing occurred with all the different memory sticks either they are all bad quality (fake) or your PSP USB port is faulty to some extent.
(1st is more like it).

Yes this is a good idea, thanks for your response Wakaru. Smiley  I've got an extra USB cable to try, and a digital camera as well.

Just need to rule out all the possible problems until I find which it is...Thanks again!

Hey Wakaru,

Just wanted to let you know that after all that trouble, I simply used a USB cable from my external harddrive...and everything worked fine.  Shocked

Thanks again for your help!

Well, at least you found the root cause of the problem. I suggest you chuck that faulty USB cable in the bin Wink
