@ sfa You must have 3.52 M33-4 to install 3.71 M33 (I guess you mistyped it). I guess that the /PSP/GAME folder is set to 1.50 Kernel. It will need changing to 3.52 kernel. Boot into Recovery Mode (Hold R-Trigger from a cold boot) Then enter into ConfigurationSelect Game Folder Homebrew and make sure the kernel for the /PSP/GAME folder is set to 3.52 kernel Exit the recovery mode and try again. If it still doesn´t work I´ve got no idea.... Another option would be creating a Pandora´s Battery set with the "Despertar del Cementerio" v3 from Dark_Alex. That would install 3.71 M33-2 straightaway.

Yea sorry i got 3.52 M33-4 now and the GAME directory is set to 3.52 already. That's the strange part.
Posted on: November 14, 2007, 06:10:47 AM I've solved it now. You need 3.71 M33-1 to install it from 3.52 M33-4 and then i could update to 3.71 M33-3. Now everything is working fine. I'm just gonna install the 1.50 kernel addon so i can run homebrews =)

So you were trying to install the Update 3 (3.71 M33) from your PSP running 3.52 M33-4 ,weren't you? That explains it all. To install any update patch for any custom firmware you actually need to have the same Firmware version of the patch already installed.

Close =) I was trying to install 3.71 M33-2 =) Thought the guide said i had to have that version prior to installing the 3'rd version and never said anything about having to install the initial version first But now i know.

Did you read the requirements? You will not be able to run the installer on 3.71 Official firmware.
If you read slowly again you copy the Custom firmware installer to the UPDATE folder and the 3.71 update as a source file for the custom firmware. It is 100% required to be there and its 100% required that you have Custom firmware already installed. your other option is a firend with a Pandora Battery

I just got through doing this and had the same problem twice, once I had the wrong patch file and the other I forgot to run creator then installer. Make sure you take your time. I'd suggest starting from the beginning of wherever your at (I.E. if you're still in 3.52 M33-4, start at the 3.71 M33 thread) and go from there. Read it slowly, it's repetitive, and do it exactly as it says, if you're unsure what it's talking about, read the previous couple of lines and make sure you didn't miss anything, that's what I did, and it worked great.
4.0 guide. A little repetitive and dry, but it got the job done right, and I didn't brick anything, even after a couple of misplaced files (My own error in reading.)

[Snip]... In order to install 3.71 M33 Firmware you will need the following:
* Either a PSP-100* console (AKA Fat PSP) running either 3.52 M33-3 or 3.52 M33-4 (Previous versions of M33 won't work, due to a bug that affects them and OE) or a PSP-200* (AKA Slim PSP) running 3.60-M33. ...[Snap] well... no. You will need a pandora Battery and a stick with 'Despertar del Cementerio' on it. To make that you will need a homebrew enabled PSP (1.50 or custom firmware). and as Denkai says do it slowly, step by step. i would even reccomend to print the duide and strike out every thing you have done ^^ some guides are repetitive and its easy to miss a line or an entire paragraph.

I don't understand, I try running the program to upgrade to 3.71 M33, but it says that I must have "3.52 M33-3 or higher"
I am on 3.52 M33-4
What is wrong?
EDIT: Noticed this: "If you are installing either the 3.71 M33 CFW or any of the UPDATE files in a Fat PSP, ensure you have configured in the Recovery Menu of the PSP the GAME folder to run in the 3.XX kernel mode, or otherwise the installer will refuse to run."
How do I get this Recovery menu?

Keep R trigger pressed while you turn your PSP on from a cold boot (not from sleep mode) and you'll get to the Recovery Menu

That is quite corect Dark_Alex is the main programmer of the M33 customfirmware. If you realy want an update for a older CFW try alek's file archive. Alek is the Webmaster of Dark_Alex's Page. I reccomend that you give 5.00M33-6 a try.
