Thanks for the guide! I used it the other day to downgrade my little brother's friend's PSP. I had no problems at all

Hello,
this is my first post, before attempting the installation of a homebrew firmware, I was hoping you could answer the following questions:
1) I've got the sony 3.95 fw, your guide refers to version 3.90 and there's a new 4.01 out there... what CFW should I install and would it be better to do a sony upgrade to 4.01 before following the guide?
2) it seems I can convert both the memory stick and battery to pandora and back, does it mean I do not need to purchase an extra pandora battery? and I guess I don't need a friend's homebrew psp as well?
Thanks a lot

1.) With this guide you automatically get 3.90(CFW). But, there is a new version of Dark_Alex's Despertar del Cementerio
Dark_Alex's Despertar del Cementerio v6
[Which will give you 4.01(CFW)]. You should be able to use the guide in the exact same way except use the new version.
2.)You don't need to purchase another battery, but it is recommended. It is recommended in case your PSP ever becomes bricked(Stops working). And, you do need your friends PSP. You need it in order to create the magic memory stick that is needed. Creating the magic memory stick any other way is illegal.

Thanks stop4chili,
I would prefer to give 401 a go then and grab the v6 of the tool
1) Would there be a problem if I tried this on a new psp slim with 4.01 sony firmware?
2) should I then download and rename the SONY Firmware Update EBOOT 4.01 to 401.pbp as well as 1.50 3.40 and 3.90?
3) Regarding the friend's psp, should I use it for both memorystick and battery pandorization or for just the memorystick?
I appreciate your patience, cheers!
Luca

1.) No there would be no problem. Pandora's Battery works basically no matter what. Just make sure you have the right battery.

# Compatible:
- Sony PSP-100, 1800mAh, 3.6v - Normally bundled with PSPs.
- Sony PSP-280, 2200mAh, 3.6v.
- Datel Go Max GM100, Reusable Battery Pack. USes 3xAAA batteries. The serial resets itself to zeroes once the bateries are removed.
- Datel X2, 3600maH
- Datel MAX Power, 1800maH, 3.6v (Two models, Black [Model No LB1000] and Silver)
- Sony PSP Slim Battery, 1200mAH, 3.6v, PSP-S110 (As long as you do not use the Pandora's Battery Creator. Use
# Not compatible
- MEGA Lithium, 2600 mAh, 3.6v
- Sony (Fake) PSP-280, 2200mAh, 3.6v
- Unknown brand TYP-107, 3600mAh, 3.6v (Gold Letters)
- Unknown brand PSP-360, 3600mAh, 3.6v (Silver Letters)
2.) I'm glad you said something. I did my research and it seems like you need the 1.50 eboot, the 3.40 eboot, the 3.80 eboot, and the 4.01 eboot.
1.50 eboot
3.40 eboot
3.80 eboot
4.01 eboot
3.)You will need your friends (homebrew enabled) PSP for BOTH the magic memory stick and the Jigkick Battery. This is because your friends PSP can run the Homebrew (CFW only) programs needed for the creation of Pandora's Battery.
I appreciate your persistence! Most people give up right away

Compatibility
--------------
A)
Memory Stick:
They MUST be
PRO
Duo. As long as it's PRO Duo it should work. Memory Stick Duo will NOT work.
They MUST be able to hold all the required files (At least 128MB).
B)
Battery:
- Sony PSP Slim Battery, 1200mAH, 3.6v, PSP-S110 (As long as you do not use the Pandora's Battery Creator. Use
im on cfw 3.71 m33-2 so im assuming the tutorial works with that and the psp's (slim) s-110 battery. tho i wanted to ask a few things :
a) do fake mem cards (pro duo) work as a magic memory stick? there is a max capacity?
b) as i have only 1 battery what happens when my psp bricks? saying i have the magic stick would i be needing another battery to make a pandora out of it or is there some other way?
c) taking into acc im running 3.71 m33-2 how do i upgrade it? would i require a magic mem stick and a pandora batt to go up to a newer cfw?
d) in ur guide and in the compatibility (battery) part the info on what to use with a slim's s-110 batt is cut off can u pls tell me which of the 2 links u have posted i am to use?
e) saying i want to upgrade to something other then 3.90 what would i have to do?
f) last but not the least i wanted to know which is the current advisable cfw with compatability for homebrew apps as my current 3.71 M33-2 doesnt seem to run things like media players
Many thx for the guide and the help

Pandora's Battery + Magick Memory Stick loaded with Despertar del Cementerio v5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14.- If you would like to free some space in the memory stick, you can safely delete the files 150.PBP and 340.PBP off the root of the memory stick as they will not be needed anymore, however make sure the file 390.PBP remains in there. Once finished, disable the USB Mode safely.
So for DC v6, which ones would not be needed anymore and can be deleted?

Any PBP (firmware files) but the 401.pbp file.

Any PBP (firmware files) but the 401.pbp file.
If the installer finds that the file is not valid it'll abort the instalation... so don;t worry about what kind of EBOOT it is.

It can be that your friend has one of the latest PSP 3000 models (brighter screen) or one of the last PSP 2000 models with a pandora sefe mainboard.
In that case there is no working Pandora yet
you might try to get the latest version of the Despertar del Cementerio (v7 while i am writing
) from
Dark_Alex's page
and read the included instructions.
What you need to do should be quite similar to the instructions on this first post but it needs only the official 4.01 firmware file.

Are you shure you created this 'pure breed' Magic stick and not one of the multi-boot ones out there?
Try pressing left or right shoulder while booting also X / O / [] / A

If I did I don't know how...
I followed the instructions here line by line...
Holding those keys down while booting does nothing however
little bit of exrtra: battery i am using is the one that shipped with my psp which is PSP-1000 from the UK bundle pack the program to change the battery SN does show that my battery has been changed to FFFFFFF and like I said the system wont boot without the card i did up... lastly the card is a 512mb memory stick pro duo
