Pandora's Battery + Magick Memory Stick loaded with Despertar del Cementerio v8
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is it?
-----------

A universal PSP unbricker and CFW installer.

It´s a set consisting of a Jigkick Battery and a Magic Memory Stick which will allow you to:
  • Unbrick any Classic PSP (PSP-100* Model) and Slim&Lite PSP (PSP-200* Model)(*1).
  • Upgrade any Classic PSP (PSP-100* Model) and Slim&Lite PSP (PSP-200* Model)(*1) from any SONY official firmware (i.e. 3.95) or CFW (i.e. 3.40 OE) to 5.00 M33-3 CFW (Currently the latest CFW by Dark_Alex)

*1: expections are PSP-200* units with TA-88v3 (*2) Mainboards and ALL PSP-300* models)
*2: The TA-88v3 identifyer can be found HERE

Requirements
--------------

In order to obtain one you will need the following:

  • Any PSP already running Custom Firmware (such as OE, M33 or WC). It can be a Classic or Slim&Lite PSP as long is already running any CFW. If yours is not homebrew capable yet, because it is still loaded with any official firmware from SONY, you can always borrow a homebrew capable PSP from a friend, girlfriend etc or alternatively contact someone listed in our helping thread by email or PM.
  • A compatible PSP Battery. We said compatible because not all makes will work (Read the Compatibility Section bellow). Using a spare is best.
  • A (spare) Memory Stick Pro Duo. At least a 128MB Memory Stick is required to hold all the necessary applications.
  • Despertar del Cementerio v8 by Dark Alex
  • Open Source Pandora Battery Tool by Cory149
  • The following official SONY Firmware Update EBOOT files:

Compatibility
--------------

A) Memory Stick:

  • They MUST be PRO Duo. As long as it's PRO Duo it should work. Memory Stick Duo will NOT work.
  • They MUST be able to hold all the required files (At least 128MB).

B) Battery:

  • Compatible:
    - Sony PSP-100, 1800mAh, 3.6v - Normally bundled with PSPs.
    - Sony PSP-280, 2200mAh, 3.6v.
    - Datel Go Max GM100, Reusable Battery Pack. USes 3xAAA batteries. The serial resets itself to zeroes once the bateries are removed.
    - Datel X2, 3600maH
    - Datel MAX Power, 1800maH, 3.6v (Two models, Black [Model No LB1000] and Silver)
    - Sony PSP Slim Battery, 1200mAH, 3.6v, PSP-S110 (As long as you do not use the Pandora's Battery Creator. Use
  • Not compatible
    - MEGA Lithium, 2600 mAh, 3.6v
    - Sony (Fake) PSP-280, 2200mAh, 3.6v
    - Unknown brand TYP-107, 3600mAh, 3.6v (Gold Letters)
    - Unknown brand PSP-360, 3600mAh, 3.6v (Silver Letters)

Visit the following link for a Visual Guide.

Before you start
-----------------

  • If you have a PTF custom theme set, remove it before we continue.
  • This application requires running under a CFW with 2.x to 5.x kernel, therefore make sure that the kernel selected in recovery menu is the correct one (2.x to 5.x depending on the CFW you're running.)

Creating the Magic Memory Stick
----------------------------------

1.- Insert the Memory Stick in the PSP.

2.- Format the Memory Stick via the Menu of your PSP within Settings.

3.- Connect the PSP to your PC through the USB Cable and enable the USB Mode in the PSP Settings.

4.- Create the /PSP/GAME and PSP/GAME150 folders on the root of the Memory Stick

5.- Download Dark_Alex's Despertar del Cementerio v8 from the above link. Unrar the "DC8.zip" file with the help of your favourite compatible uncompressor (i.e. WinRAR, 7Zip) into your local hard drive. Locate the folder called DC8 and copy it (along with its contents) to the folder /PSP/GAME you just created above.

6.- Download the 5.00 Official SONY Update File from any of the download links above. Unzip the 5.00 update to a temporary folder. Rename the unzipped 5.00 EBOOT.PBP file to 500.PBP. Then copy it into the root of your Memory Stick.

7.- Once finished copying all the files, disable the USB Mode safely.

8.- Go to the GAME Menu of your PSP, select the Memory Stick and press X, then select "Despertar del Cementerio v8" and press X.  It will ask you to press the X button to begin the installation.

9.- Only if Dark_Alex's Timemachine is already installed in the memory stick you're using, the program will prompt you during the memory stick creation for the button(s) you want to boot DC8.

10.- NOTE: Beginning at version 5 of the DC, it uses same iplloader than timemachine which usually doesn't require to mspformat the memory stick. However, in some memory sticks it might still be necessary. If this is the case you will see an error during the installation process (iploader). To fix that just run mspformat as explained in this guide and then re-start the process from the Step 10 again

11.- Once finished, you'll get back to the XMB. If you had TimeMachine already installed skip to the next step. Otherwise connect the PSP to your PC again through the USB Cable and enable the USB Mode in the PSP Settings. Click THIS LINK, and save the config.txt file into the /TM folder of your memory stick.

13.- You have successfully created your Magic Memory Stick. Now you still need a jigkick battery in order to run it. Let's get to it.

Creating the Jigkick Battery
----------------------------

1.- Insert the Memory Stick in the PSP.

2.- Connect the PSP to your PC through the USB Cable and enable the USB Mode in the PSP Settings.

3.- Download the latest release of Cory's Open Source Pandora Battery Tool from the link above. Unzip the "ospbt_0.xx.zip" file with the help of your favourite compatible uncompressor (i.e. WinRAR, 7Zip) into your local hard drive. Locate the folder called OSBT_0XX and copy it (along with its contents) to the folder /PSP/GAME.

4.- Once finished copying all the files, disable the USB Mode safely.

5.- Go to the GAME Menu of your PSP, select the Memory Stick and press X, then select "OSPBT" and press X.  It will show a Warning message, press the X button to continue.

7.- I suggest you select "Backup battery eeprom to ms0:/eeprom.bin" and press the X button. This way you will be able to  to recover it at a later stage to its exact original condition, whenever you want to convert tha pandorised battery back to normal.

8.- Then select "Convert to Service Mode (aka: Pandora's battery)" and press X. Now your battery has been Pandorised.(*3) You can select "Quit now" and press X. Shut the PSP off. You can use your set now to unbrick any PSP and/or install the 5.00 M33-3 CFW.
*3 If you recive an error message your Battery is not compatible

Using the set to unbrick / install CFW
--------------------------------------

  • Just grab any bricked or working PSP (Classic or Slim&Lite with the above mentioned expections) running any firmware (Official or Custom).
  • Remove the regular battery, ac-adapter and memory stick if applicable.
  • Insert the completely charged Magic Memory Stick into the PSP
  • Insert the JigKick Battery into the PSP.
  • The PSP will boot up automatically showing a Menu on screen.
  • Follow the on screen information and options:
    • Install 5.00 M33
      (installs 5.00m33-3 CFW)
    • Install 5.00 OFW
(installs 5.00 OFW with no homebrew capability!)
    • NAND operations
(this enables you to Dump, restore or fix some NAND settings)
    • Hardware Info
(find out what mainboard is in the PSP what model it is and some more information)
    • Test M33
(Use this option to boot 5.00m33 from your memorystick. In this mode you can execute homebrew and convert your pandora battery back to normal)
    • Shutdown
      (Switches the PSP off)
    • Reboot Device
(Reboots your PSP to the XMB as if your battery is a normal one)
  • Press 'Install 5.00 M33' to install 5.00 M33-3. The memory stick LED should begin flashing. Wait around 5-10 minutes, when the LED stops flashing the process is completed and you'll be asked to press X to reboot the PSP or O to shut it down to complete the installation - I suggest that you hit X. the PSP will boot to XMB and you can convert your Pandora battery back to normal.
  • You may be presented with a BSOD, but just press X or O to restore settings.
  • Done. You're now running 5.00 M33-3.

RETURNING THE MAGIC MEMORY STICK AND JIGKICK BATTERY TO NORMAL (AKA: UNPANDORISE)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Unpandorising the battery: To do that remove the battery, connect your PSP to the mains (A USB charging cable will NOT work), turn the PSP on, insert the magic memory stick, then insert the jigkick battery. Go to the GAME Menu of your PSP, select the Memory Stick and press X, then select "OSPBT" and press X.  It will show a Warning message, press the X button to continue. Select "Flash only serial from ms0:/eeprom.bin" if you backed up the original eeprom or alternatively select "Convert to normal mode (0x12345678)" if you did not. Press X. Your battery is now a regular battery. You can now select "Quit now" and press X button to exit the application.
  • Unpandorising the memory stick: You can still use a magic memory stick it for regular purposes. It will not give you any problems. The Magic Memory Stick should still work in the same way for savegames, homebrew, MP3, Videos..., however if you want to convert it to a normal memory stick again you just have to format the Memory Stick from the Settings Menu of your PSP. Simple Wink

IMPORTANT NOTE
------------------

- NOT all hardware revisions known at this day are supported. (TA-88 v3 and PSP-3000 units can not use Magic memorysticks today)
- This release contains no Sony-copyrighted material.  All required Sony data is generated from the 5.00 EBOOT update files.

Basically these are the Instructions from the Despertar del Cementerio v5 Release with a few additions / changes to make it more understandable.

If you have read the instructions but you are still having trouble to get the Pandora´s Battery working, we suggest that you reply to this topic with the question(s) that you may have rather than starting a new topic/thread instead.  We'll try to help  Smiley.

Thanks alot.
I just flashed my PSP Slim lite OFW 3.95 to CFW 3.90 M33-3
I used my PSP Phat CFW 3.90 M33-3 to create the magic memorystick and the pandora battery. And it all worked just fine!  Smiley

The only thing to mention is that you will need 2pcs MS Pro Duo. one to be the "magic" and one to run the Pandora Battery Tool from.
Maybe you can run Pandora Battery Tool from the Magic card as well. i don't know.

Again Thank you very mutch for this outstanding guide!  Wink

You can in fact use the same Magic Memory Stick to run Pandora's Battery Tool.

I was able to make the magic stick and pandorized battery c/o my phat psp, but I seem to be having problems getting the padorized battery onto my slim psp (with I think, 3.80 FW).

the slim psp just won't power up with the pandorized battery.

the battery's specs: 3.6v 1800mAh and it came with my old phat psp which was pre-1.50. model of the battery: psp-110. I checked on the image for the supported batteries, and I couldn't find the same image for my battery, but AFAIK this is an original Sony PSP battery that came with my initial phat PSP value pack.

@ jomz

FAT batteries do not fit perfectly in SLIM consoles. Try pressing down the area where connectors are as to improve the contact and see what happens.

Before doing anything, try the pandorised FAT battery in the FAT PSP to discard that the battery has not been pandorised properly.

This is weird, after pandorizing the fat battery, it can't seem to power up the slim psp.

Hi Wakaru, here's what happens when I try out the pandorised battery on the PHAT PSP: the power light turns on, but the unit won't proceed to an actual menu screen, or anything. What I do to unpandorise it is I first remove the battery from the PHAT PSP, load up the menu (while the PHAT PSP is powered up through the AC adaptor), I insert the battery and wait for a battery indicator to show up - load up the pandoriser software (I got the one from Dark Alex's site) - then I normally proceed to the un-pandorising process. It all works out fine after that. Now I'm at a loss if I'm going to have to acquire a different battery for my Phat PSP to have it work with the battery and memory stick kit for the slim PSP.

Pandora's batteries cannot start normally, you will have to plug it in, turn it on, and then put the battery in.

Or just unpandorize...

Can I just add that the program used to Pandorarize batteries can unpandorarize too.

Unless it's a hardmod! That has to be restored to it's original state by soldering the pin back! Smiley

i recommend Hellcat's Pandora Installer.. its small in size like 305kb. I use that just to put the ms IPL onto my pandora memstick before i use UPMSv4 lol.... and i also use that to switch my battery between pandora and normal... With UPMS, i have the multi-booster+sleepfix ipl installed, so yeah... i can take my battery out to be used as a pandora + normal battery

I have a quick question. When pandoras battery first came out, i succesfully made a magic battery and memory stick. Recently my friend asked me to downgrade his slim. I know i need to make a new memory stick because 1.50 wont work with slim and the first magic memory stick downgraded to 1.50, but would the battery still work, or is it not compatible either?

you know, It would have been easier for the config.txt if you just attached it yourself instead of making some people forced to register, and wait 15 mins for the email to come to their custom domain just for
'NOTHING = "/TM/DC5/ipl.bin";
