Hi all,

I recently decided to downgrade my PSP to firmware 1.50 (it was on 2.81 -> 3.03 before) by using the GTA exploit, but by having this done my idstorage keys were offcourse patched. Because I don't want to be dependent of custom made firmware I want to be sure that I can undo this patching that the downgrader did. My question is, do I really have to have an unpatched version of Lumines to undo the patching on my motherboard or can I also do this with my unpatched version of GTA and in 3.03 HEN?

Thanks in advance.

Honestly I cannot answer your question, but I'll look into it.

As for working with CFW, I highly suggest using them. DCv4 at dark-alex.org allows you to upgrade straight to 3.80 M33-5 and it's as simple as installing 3.90 M33 from there via Network Update or manual download. You will have to use a Pandora/Magic Memory stick to use DCv4 but now that your at 1.50 you can do that.

The all selling point is that DCv4 will install 3.80 OFW on your PSP any time you want. and as long as you have a pandora, you can run it right back to CFW any time.

CFW will also allow you a 1.5 Kernel and the NIDs resolver (a feature that is in CFW, no need to set anything up!) to still run your favorite homebrew as well as new releases.

Also note after installing 3.80 M33-5 or 3.90 M33 you can install UPMS project at UPMS-project.com. This program will allow you to convert your battery back to a normal battery, or you can keep it as a multi-IPL battery and memory stick, and have them still able to act as a pandora, but only when you boot holding the left button.

Look for a homebrew called KeyCleaner or IDStorage Manager by Chilly Willy.

They will let you back your IDStorage Keys up and restore the patched ones to their original condition.

Alternatively, just by installing a CFW (over 3.71 M33 I think) your IDStorage Keys will be checked during the process and if any of the IDStorage keys was found to be patched (due to the use of downgraders) it´ll ask you to press certain key in order to unpatch them so as to be able to install CFW properly.

Okay so your basicly saying if I would like my key 5 back in the original state I could do two things:
1. Upgrate to custom firmware 3.71 M33 (is this possible straight from 1.50 and can I still go back to official firmware after I did this?)
2. Reinstall Firmware 3.03 and use the GTA exploit again to enter 3.03 HEN and just run chilly willy's KeyCleaner?

I have some questions about this method.
1. With option one is it possible to go straight to this firmware (3.71 M33) and can I still go back to official Sony Firmware (and if so how?)
2. After I ran the KeyCleaner can I just remove all Homebrew apps from my memorystick and while in 3.03 HEN goto any official firmware?

Sorry for being a hardass with these questions but I really don't want my PSP to end up like a brick (even though there is pandorra).

1. You cannot go to 3.71 M33 straightaway, you have to go to 3.52 M33-4 first. Follow the guides in our forums. You could go to 3.71 M33 or 3.80 M33 straightaway if you make a Pandora's BAttery loaded with "Despertar del Cementerio", though it'd probably be more complicated for you. Once in there you could just install any SONY official firmware in the usual way I think.

2. That should be possible as well.

1. Usual way. Just copy the EBOOT.PBP uopdate file into ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/ and run the installer through the XMB. Network Update and the Updates from UMDs should work as well.

2. Yes.

A third option would be Pandora's BAttery loaded with "Despertar del Cementerio". Not only it allows you to install either CFW 3.71 M33 or 3.80 M33 but also the OFW 3.71 or 3.80.

Sorry for the late response but I have some one more question, I read somewhere that you had to dump your PSP keys but I didn't dump my keys before I downgraded my PSP with the Noobz GTA exploit. Is it still possible to unpatch my keys in 3.0.3 HEN with Key Cleaner? (sorry for being such a pain but I really don't want my PSP to become screwed up)

It should not make much difference since I believe the M33 installers will take care of the IDStorage key patching during the CFW installation process.

On the other hand, just make sure that at some point you back your IDStorage Keys up and store them in a safe place, since you never know if you will need them in future.

Does that also go for Chilly Willy's Key Cleaner?

Hi, I will just use this thread and report my problem since it is related and just following what you have said here.
I hope you could also help me.
I have try also to update my PSP to 3.80m33-5 using the dc4v and clean my keys using chilly willy cleaner and idstorage. without backing up my idstorage keys. sorry for that. and now my problem is my UMD cannot read my disc and cannot connect to another psp while playing adhoc or multiplayer games. I think some of the keys in my psp were lost or changed after I have clean the keys using chilly willy. How can I resolved it?

Actually I have done backing nanddump.bin of my friend psp and try to restore it to my psp but unfortunately still have the same problem.
Appreciate for the help.

Well, as far as I know the IDStorage keys are INDIVIDUAL for each PSP, therefore if you installed your friend's nanddump.bin in your own PSP you would have installed your friend's PSP IDStorage Keys in your own. You surely will be experiencing problems like those you stated and probably more (unability to run UMD games, non ad-hoc connection, wifi not working...).

The only way back to what it was is if:
  • A) You backed your original IDStorage keys up with Chilly Willy's fortware for instance (there are some others as well) BEFORE you experienced any of the problems above.
  • B) You backed up your FLASH contents into a nanddump.bin BEFORE you experienced any of the problems above.

If you did any of the above, just flash the IDStorage keys or the whole nanddump.bin back to your PSP and you should be OK. I must stress the importance of them being from YOUR OWN PSP.
If you did not back them up, then you're screwed since as far as I know nobody knows how to re-create missing or damaged IDStorage keys (yet).

Nope, I did'nt backed up my storage keys and flash contents and just continue fixing keys with chilly willy's software. What a pity for me.
How flash the IDstorage?
One more thing that I know is , my other friend psp also have the same problem with me before. But his problem is his MAC address is missing, adhoc not working and UMD can't read. After he backed up other psp's nand-dump.bin and restore to his psp then the mac address returns and he used mac fixer to restore his unique mac address and umd also now is working. Is he lucky that his idstorage is same with other psp and restoring it to his psp works fine. I'm just thinking that wifi region in idstorage keys is also a factor on how the wifi works. do you have any idea on which keys in idstorage affecting wifi region and umd?

Sorry that I can´t help you. I don´t think anybody in this forums will shed a light on your problem.
I suggest you try some other forums, such as those in lan.st
As an advice, read the following posts to get more knowledge in the matter:

Beware the above forums are for technical discussions only, any noob discussion will surely be either deleted, locked  or ignored.

Good luck with your problem.
