Hi, I've been trying to downgrade my PSP to 1.50 forever and I can't seem to get it to work. I followed the guide pretty thoroughly and I keep getting "The Game Cannot Be Run (8002014C)" error.
My PSP model is 1001 and I am currently running the Sony Official 3.71 firmware. When I get to the step to install the Pandora's Firmware Installer, it just doesn't work and I get that error. Under Game on my PSP, I have the Pandora's Firmware Installer, Pandora's Battery Creator, and two corrupt files. I've redown the guide at least 5 times and redownloaded files, even from other sites to make sure I'm not DLing corrupt files. But it doesn't seem to work at all. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've read the troubleshoot question, and I don't really understand it. Is it saying that I need a second PSP from someone that runs a homebrew PSP? Because I don't know anyone that does...
Thanks in advance, much appreciation.

read it 5 times hum? read the requirements (top of the first post), you'll figure it out.
Requirements
--------------
In order to obtain one you will need the following:
*
A Fat PSP with a Custom Firmware such as OE, M33 or WC, or a fat PSP with the 1.5 original kernel. You can borrow your friend's, girlfriend's etc if yours is not homebrew capable yet.
* A spare PSP Battery. Not all makes will work (Read the Compatibility Section bellow). Using a spare is best, as it will not be possible to boot the PSP in its normal state with the modified battery, although there is a "trick" if you only have one battery (Explained further down).
* A spare Memory Stick Pro Duo of less than 4GB. 64MB should be enough for all the required applications.
* Pandora's Battery software by the Team C+D
* Official SONY v1.50 Firmware Update EBOOT:
o Download it from QJ-Net [ZIP Format]
o Download it from PSP-Hacks.Com [ZIP Format]
IMPORTANT: This guide will assume that you are running a Windows XP Operative System in your PC. It´s well know Windows Vista may give a "open error (read)" error message when using mspformat.exe, if that happens to you, install and use Windows XP instead or try a Live Linux Distro (Knoppix, kUbuntu, ...) and try following the Unix instructions . For Unix and Mac users there are some alternative instructions for the command line available (Just make sure you really know what you´re doing).[/li][/list]

There's no way to do it without a homebrew PSP? How did someone else downgrade to get homebrew if one must know someone to have homebrew?

They had a 1.5 OFW psp that could do it.

And yes i'm a old man trying to get thing sorted for my kiddo.
Everything went fine, rebooted, screen comes up with 3 options - downgrade/backup/restore. And so i choose the downgrade, which it does successfully, then i shutdown take the battery out, put it back in, and the whole thing starts over again - downgrade/backup/restore. And so it goes over and over again.
Must of screwed up something somewhere.
What can i do?

@ dingding
From the Troubleshooting section (Questions and Answers) of the Pandora's Battery (Jigkick Battery & Magic Memory Stick) Tutorial / Guide
Quote
- Q -
Once I´ve got the set sorted, can I use the jigkick battery as a regular battery again?
- A -
Yes, but you will have to convert it back to a normal battery or otherwise it will keep working as a jickick. To do that remove the battery, connect your PSP to the mains (A USB charging cable will NOT work), turn the PSP on, insert the jigkick battery, go to Game -> Memory Stick, Select and run Pandora´s Battery Creator, you can now convert your battery back to normal by pressing L+R (Providing you backed the original EEPROM up previously and is still in the root of the Memory Stick) or pressing the Swuare button (In case you did not back the original EEPROM up).

if that was your only battery, take it out, insert the power cord, and remove the memory card and turn it on. You can use multiple programs out there to revert your battery to normal, as well as your mem stick. I know of 1.

The upms program is a great program but might be a little overwhelming at first you could try these I used from one of the posts on this thread on page 1 following the guide.

Pandora Installer for 3.xx kernels by HellCat will let you use a homebrew-capable Slim (or fat) PSP to convert a compatible battery into a jigkick battery (and back to its original condition as well) and it will also install the necessary files into the memory stick converting it into the Magic Memory Stick. The advantage is that it will create the partion in the stick (just like mspformat does), copy the IPL as well, and EVERY STEP is performed on PSP, no PC needed, so your OS dosen't matter either.
Open Source Pandora Battery Tool by Cory149 will let you use a homebrew-capable Slim (or fat) PSP convert a compatible battery into a jigkick battery (and back to its original condition as well).

Hey, hopefully this isn't a stupid question.
Regarding restoring the softmodded battery to its original form, when the pandora battery is created and a EPROM backup made, where is it backed up onto? Is it on to the memory stick currently in the PSP?
The question goes like this: Suppose I use a custom firmware psp to create a pandora battery and magic stick, and use this stick to downgrade a second psp, can I restore my battery with the backed up data without using the first (custom firmware) psp?

@ Blahrah
The EPROOM backup is stored in the memory stick. You can restore the original EPROOM (Backup) in a different PSP providing you´re using the same Memory Stick you originally stored into.
