The root of you memory stick is what you first see in windows explorer without going into any of the folders.

I take it you talking about a folder called PSP, copy that to the root of your memory stick(first view) and you will be okay.

What guide are you looking at anyway.Huh

the http://www.psp-homebrew.eu/faq/
heres wat i'm suppost to do.

Downgrading 2.71
Required files
2.71 Downgrade Files (file i downloaded)
1.50 Firmware Update
Guide

Open the 2.71 downloaded files and copy the PSP folder to the root (topmost folder) of the memory stick.
Copy over the 1.5 update eboot renamed to UPDATE.PBP into ms0:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE
Scroll over to the PHOTO icon and then press Triangle, then Slideshow. A few things could happen:
Red - The files could not write to the flash. If this happens try again.

Green - The files could not write to the flash. If this happens try again.

Note: For the next few steps make sure your battery is charged to at least 75% and your charger plugged in.
Go to GAME and run the Update X.YZ.
After the screen will change to magenta or pink text Press X
When it finishes it will say to press X, Press it and the PSP will restart.
Welcome to 1.5! -------------------------

i still don't understand what i'm suppost to do, i hope you can bear with me while i get thru this??? i very much appricaite this.
right when i downloaded the "2.71 Downgrade Files" it was zipped, when i unzipped it i got the file, "271dg" which makes me wounder where the whole PSP folder thing comes into this... on my memory stick i already have a psp folder. arghhh i'm so confussed!

Have you got all the files required.?? i.e. the 1.50.pbp.

first thing psp into USB mode and copy the PSP folder (drag and drop) you download to the root of the memory stick (first view)

Take the 1.5 eboot rename UPDATE.pbp and place in PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder

then follow guide from there on

make sure you have "use folder names" checked in winzip, winrar

or open the zip/rar file and drag it to memory stick root

Alternativaly you can upgrade to 2.80 Firmware and follow this tutorial instead, since it's probably safer if you are unaware of the motherboard model in your PSP.

Posted on: June 12, 2008, 04:32:16 PM
i'm having a few problems with the recommended upgrade to 2.8 then back down to 1.5

ok i can't get onto the photo menu, as soon as i do it totally freezes like i can't even get to the hen280 folder. is there anyway i can get it to run

-----------------Go to the PHOTO menu of your PSP, press X to enter, and then select the "HEN_280" folder and press X again to enter.
If the psp just freezes, reboot your psp and try again from this point onwards. HEN_280 is based in the TIFF exploit and is VERY unstable, so it will onnly executed sometimes.------------

p.s i've been trying for around 2 hours

Just follow the guide word for word, if you have upgraded to 2.80 successfully miss out that bit.

Check to see you have not made any silly mistakes at try again.

If still having problems, have any of your friends got a CFW PSP, you should look at downgrading using Pandora.
