Blue PSP 1006-MB Can't upgrade to 3.50

I have recently just brought a PSP from Ebay, found out it had PSP Firmware 3.11 but can't upgrade to any firmware at all. This is the message I receive ''The system configuration of this PSP system does not appear to be correct. The update cannot be completed''. I have tried network upgrade and it still doesn't upgrade. I have tried many different regions but won't upgrade to 3.50 in order to execute the downgrader for 3.50 plus had everything ready too like a copy of lumines. It looks the cock who sold it to me upgraded 1.50 to 3.11 and sold it to me therefore I’m stuck on 3.11 can’t upgrade or downgrade just stuck on one particular firmware. Is there anyway I could upgrade besides sending it to Sony? Also I mean by softmodding not a modchip to expensive and advance soldering skills are required.

Yes your case is heard and had been confirmed that some psp user are stuck at firmware 3.1x due to the scenario you described.
But according to the lumines exploit developers, they will soon release a tool that fix/reset the psp corrupted key so you can upgrade to latest sony's official firmware. However, for now there's not yet any solution for that.

Is this really something that complicated ? Its just checking the 0x0005 key right ?

ok, same happened to me. on the XMB go to SETTINGS-> SYSTEM-> RESTORE DEFAULT. then restore ur whole psp, it will not erase any files, but if i was u i would still back up my mem stick for part 2. it will reset all ur settings, u will lose all bookmarks, and internet settings so u gotta redo all of that, and reset ur nick. then u gotta reenable WMA and FLASH. then i formatted my psp mem stick after i backed it up. DO NOT PUT ANY FILES BACK ON UR MEM STICK YET. put it in usb mode with ur comp off, and start up ur computer with PSP attached in usb mode, an then it will automatically run Diagnostics on it memory and such in read only mode.
