5.50 Downgrade to something that I can change to CFW

Basically the topic title is my problem. I haven't really kept up with PSP news for well over a year, but recently I bought Dissidia Final Fantasy. That took my to 5.5, but after that I read about CFWs and that type of thing. So, I'm in a pickle because I hear it is hard if not impossible to downgrade from 5.5. I ordered a Pandora Battery, so I will have that in stock, so any help would be great. By the way, I am a total PSP hacking noob, if you haven't realized it. Thanks in advance.
