I'm rather new to PSPs in general, but I did try to learn as much as possible before attempting to make any changes to the PSP (and resorting to posting here and potential waste other members' time). Many things are confusing me, though, as I have found too many sources listing different ways to do things, or things that I do and do not need, and I was hoping that someone could help me straighten out the information.

My ultimate goal is to run the 3.51 M33 custom firmware. Currently, I'm running the official 2.01 system software on a non-TA-082 PSP. I've downloaded Eloader ,  2.0/2.01 Easy Downgrader and the 1.50 Update . After extracting them onto the memory stick and moving to the Games category on my PSP to run the downgrader, I get the error "The game could not be started. (80020148)."

From what I understand, this is an indication that the HEN isn't active. I've seen some people say that either Lumines/GTA is required for this, and some say not for 2.01. I'm hoping someone could help clear up what my next step should be.

I did search the forums and browse related topics. While I'm sure this is a common question, and an annoying one at that, the most I came up with was Problem with HEN 2.80, which seemed related, but did not help.

Apologies and thanks.

For the 2.00/2.01 downgrader, it´s not HEN but the eLoader required.

eLoader does NOT come bundled with the downgrader, therefore you need to download and install it separately.

Download:
- 2.00/2.01 easy downgrader
- the latest eLoader
- 1.50 Update EBOOT.

The first two available from http://www.noobz.eu.

Once eLoader is installed (and also the other two), run eLoader first.

Quote

Running eLoader : via TIFF mode
-------------------------------

- Make sure you have a custom wallpaper set.  Any image will do.

- Use the PSP's built-in photo viewer to open the "eLoader 099"
folder, this will cause the loader to start.  If your PSP
hangs at this point, then try the following:

     - check your firmware version.  This loader is for v2.0 -
       v2.71 ONLY.
     - check that you have the loader files in the correct
       place (see above)
     - turn your PSP completely off, then back on again.
The loader works best on a freshly-rebooted PSP.
     - try setting a custom background - some people have
reported that it works better if you use a custom
       wallpaper (any image).
     - try 'touching' the TIF image file : see 'fixing
       up the file times' below.

Once eLoader is executed, to downgrade, you need to select the 'set to v1.00' option (the Circle button).

This will fake your PSP to version 1.00.  Basically yor PSP will believe that it´s a 1.00  PSP so it will let you run the v1.5 Update EBOOT, directly from your PSP's Game menu.

That´s it. You can then proceed to install CFW 3.55 M33.

Again, all this information is available in the instructions (Readme.txt files) from both, the downgrader and the eLoader. So please make sure you read them thoroughly before attempting anything.
